#6 [April 3302] Special Directive #1 issued by Salomé
Important Announcement (April 3302)Attention Children of Raxxla :
We have received a directive from Salomé.
We have been tasked to set up a permanent CoR presence between two specific locations on the outer edges of the Perseus arm, Upper 2nd Quadrant. This is speculated to be the near edge of what has become known as the Formidine Rift.
We have been tasked to patrol this region.
We have been informed that this is likely to be a long term commitment, possibly spanning many months. This is phase 1 of a 3-phase operation. Phase 3 remains classified information at this time and will be relayed to us by Salomé when the time is right.
We have no information on what we are looking for during Phase 1, other than to patrol this ‘Rift Border Region’ until told otherwise.
We are to report any unusual traffic activity coming across the Rift, unidentified signals, or other events, immediately and directly to CoR Command should we detect them.
– The primary directive is to set up and maintain a permanent and long term presence of armed CoR Wings in this region.. for reasons currently unknown.
– The secondary directive is to scout and prospect for ‘Green Systems’ – systems within the patrol area that contain all Jumponum materials needed to future Rift surveys. These ‘fuel depots systems’ shall be logged with the CoR Exploration department, and will be marked on future maps by the Cartography team.
The two basecamp locations have been termed, “Listening Post Alpha”, and” “Listening Post Beta”. CoR Wings will use the two designated systems as bases of operations from which weekly patrols will be launched. The CoR Cartography team has been busy working with the information supplied and has produced a map of the patrol zone and basecamp location guides for the mission.
CoR wings will be recruited from within its ranks and will begin patrolling the region between these listening posts once the Rift Wing recruitment process has been finalized and wing leaders chosen.
CMDR Eisen will be organizing the Rift Wing recruitment and will set up a ‘tour of duty’ rota for them. CMDR Erimus will liaise with CMDR Eisen on all Rift-related activities.
This is a voluntary role open to CoR Pilots and one tour is expected to last 4 weeks.
More information on this directive including Maps, CoR basecamp locations and patrol waypoints will be posted within the CoR Discord Comms network and on the CoR website in due course.
May 3rd 3302 Announcement :
Rift Border Patrol – to commence May 3302.
The Listening Posts
- Listening Post Alpha
- Listening Post Beta
Both outposts will be used as bases of operations from where CoR wings will be stationed and launch patrols from.
The purpose of these two basecamp systems is to give CoR a permanent presence on the edges of the Formidine Rift regions.
Based on the information received, a basecamp landing guide (similar to those produced for the Distant Worlds Expedition) has been produced by the CoR cartography team for both outposts.
Each wing should consist of a minimum of 2 pilots and they should bring along at least one SRV to enable surface scouting and prospecting of the worlds around the outposts. The goal of this is similar to the rock-rat duties on Distant Worlds: provide known locations of all Jumponium materials for pilots intending to cross the Rift or search for secrets in the Poseidal Wall.
All CoR Pilots on patrol should be armed and have adequate defenses.
Tours of Duty
Due to the distances involved, CoR wings scheduled for the next tour of duty will depart HR 6421 one week prior to their assigned patrol schedule.
One tour will last 4 weeks and consists of…
- 1 week travel time allotted to each wing to travel to their designated Listening Post.
- 2 weeks duration to patrol the designated zone and travel to the secondary outpost to await the arrival of the next incoming wing that will relieve them.
- 1 week duration to return to HR 6421 for a mission debrief by CMDR Eisen, and possible reassignment elsewhere. Alternatively wings who have completed their tour are free to join the current regular Rifters’ efforts.
Rift Wings Assignments
Alpha Wing & Beta Wing will depart HR 6421 on a scheduled day and time. Alpha Wing will head to Listening Post Alpha, Beta Wing will head to Listening Post Beta.
On arrival at their designated locations, both Wings will begin their respective missions and spend 2 weeks patrolling the waypoint sectors that are marked along the near border of the Formidine Rift.
- Alpha Wing will begin at Listening Post Alpha are make its way to Listening Post Beta via the waypoint sectors.
- Beta Wing will begin at Listening Post Beta and make its way to Listening Post Alpha via the waypoint sectors.
They must reach their destinations on schedule and await the next incoming wings sent out to relive them from HR 6421.
Prospecting the listening post systems and their neighboring systems for Jumponium materials is encouraged and should be part of the exploration efforts if time permits. All prospecting data should be relayed to CMDR Eisen.
Should one of the wings discover something unusual it is imperative that they first report to CoR Command with details.
Relieved wings whose tour ends should not interfere or try to join any incoming wing unless directed to by the CoR Head of Outpost operations, CMDR Eisen.
– this is important because we need to allow some exclusivity for those on duty to not have their role undermined by pilots hanging around. Basically everyone has their turn and should respect the pilots whose turn it is next. If a wing is short of numbers then it is up to the individual wing leaders to invite replacement wingmen from a tour that is about to head home.
Chain of Wing Command
Wing Leaders will be assigned by CMDR Eisen based on consent with the wing-participants.
Incoming wing leaders will have seniority over the outgoing wing leaders from the moment they touch down at their designated basecamp on a specified day.
Before departure for home, the outgoing wing leader will brief the new incoming wing-leader on his patrol, and report anything that is deemed to be noteworthy. Briefings are to be held in voicechat or textchat on Discord.
The outgoing wing-leader will remain in charge of his own wing until it is safely returned to HR 6421 for an overall debrief by CoR Command.
CoR Security Escort
A 4-man wing consisting of CoR Security pilots will escort both wings to the NSV 1056 Planetary Nebula, situated approximately 1,600 light years outside Frontier borders. At this point, both wings will split off and begin their respective journeys out to their designated Listening Posts. The Security Wing will return home to HR 6421.
All Rift Wing participants should use -classified- for communication and coordination on the CoR Discord Server. There are Voice Channels available too if players prefer that mode of communication. “Rift Wing Channel”.

OOC Update :
These listening posts predate FDs Listening Post content by approximately 1 year. When FD finally added such content, a CoR beacon was placed some time later and much closer to the Soul nebulae (in orbit at Eafots BP-I D9-35), and alludes to the locations scouted by Salomé for her May 3302 directive. There is no physical content to discover at Listening Post Alpha or Beta.
